FAQ

Frequently asked questions
There are various size pitches available for most group sizes. We charge per person NOT per pitch so that we can try and accommodate groups that want to camp together. Some of the booking systems refer to “pitches” but we currently only charge per person and for extras such as gazebos. Please call direct if you are struggling to use any online system and we will take your booking manually.
Visitors are welcome to use their own BBQ’s or Firepits but these MUST be high enough off the ground (Min one foot / 12 inche legs / stand) so they do not burn or mark the ground. If you require a fire pit we have a limited number for hire. Any groups caught having fires on the ground / cutting wood out of tress or hedges or tipping ash anywhere but the metal bins will be asked to leave the site with no refund given. We have wood for sale onsite if you need any. Please note that Chinese lanterns are also not permitted.
No not easily. Due to booking changing all the time, it’s much easier if we put you in the best area on the day. Sometimes this is due to other factors that we may not know about until people arrive such as family groups with children v’s groups of adults v’s groups with pets or groups that have all booked separately and then want to be together when they arrive. The multipulcations are vast but we always try our best to make everyone happy.

This depends how big your tent is and how bust the site is. Over the last few seasons tents have gotten bigger and bigger. If your tent is big, it’s like that we will ask you to park in the carpark, so you don’t encroach on another group.

Unfortunately not. It is something we are looking into but it’s not something that many people ask for. The cafe does have plug sockets and people are welcome to charge their phones in there while it’s open and there is also a plug socket in one of the shower areas for hairdryers. If off grid camping isn’t for you then maybe another site would be a better match for your holiday.

Yes we provide bedding, but if you feel the cold easily, it is advisable to bring a blanket or sleeping bag to make yourself more comfortable.

Yes, but this needs to be kept to a minimum. If other groups can hear your music or your group talking, it’s too loud.

Had a brilliant weekend at the River Wye Campsite, after a half day of canoeing from Glasbury to Hay-on-Wye. Staff members were very knowledgeable on the health and safety when on the river, as well as being helpful when getting us all kitted up with our paddles/dry bags etc. Highly recommend.

Great place and well organised to be fit for covid lockdown. Facilities are all really clean and well looked after, the cafe has great drinks and ice cream. The grounds are lovely, green and quiet. The access to the river is good and their hire facilities seemed really good too.
